The Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) Site Manager is reporting to the Site Leadership and reports functionally within the GE EHS organization. Working in close partnership with the local manufacturing team is critical to ensure that EHS is embedded into daily operating rhythms and helping to further develop our safety-first culture. The incumbent leads a local team at our manufacturing site Salzbergen which is the main location, but is also responsible for Hamburg, Berlin and Garching.
Provide leadership and direction to the GE Wind Energy business on all EHS issues.
Take responsibility of being the Occupational Safety Specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit) for GE Wind Energy GmbH sites in Salzbergen, Hamburg and Berlin.
Leading the EHS Team and select, train, and coach best in class EHS support for the supported sites as necessary
Drive GE Corporate and GE Renewables EHS initiatives and values.
Maintain, grow and promote a healthy and safe work environment for Wind employees & employees from other businesses in Salzbergen.
Ensure compliance with national and local environmental, health and safety regulations.
Work closely with operations to ensure implementation of effective EHS processes and systems using EHS management framework and scorecard systems.
Conduct accident and incident investigations to determine root cause and proactive solutions.
Lead EHS compliance assessments and report progress toward achieving business EHS goals and objectives.
Maintain and adjust the existing Business continued plan (BCP)
Support security related topics like Security Counsel & Crisis Management team
Support the development of health and safety awareness programs, and facilitate communications with employees.
Develop, conduct and coordinate required EHS training. Conduct EHS audits
Maintain ISO external certifications of EHS management systems (ISO 14001 & ISO 45001)
Drive reduction on carbon footprint of the supported sites
Collaboration with local authorities regarding EHS related topics
Drive and own environmental goals
Requirements
Degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental Science or related discipline.
Certificate as Occupational Safety Specialist (Fachkraft für Arbeitssicherheit)
Enthusiasm for the renewable energy sector
Excellent oral and written communication skills in German and English
Significant EHS experience
Strong knowledge of EHS management systems, EHS standards and EHS & Safety regulations
Positive influencing skills in a team environment of a dispersed management and workforce.
Ability to travel to perform responsibilities and duties
