Delivery Manager \ Project Manager plays a critical role in orchestrating the delivery of software projects, managing teams, mitigating risks, and ensuring client satisfaction while maintaining high standards of quality and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
1. Project Planning, Documentation, and Scheduling:
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Stakeholders, and Teams to create detailed project plans, outlining tasks, timelines, documentation, and resource requirements.
2. Project Monitoring and Reporting:
- The delivery manager monitors project progress and performance metrics throughout the software development lifecycle. They generate regular reports, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide insights to stakeholders on project status and health.
3. Task Assignment and Monitoring:
- Delegate tasks to Teams (not members) based on their skills and expertise. Monitor task progress, identify potential bottlenecks, and take proactive measures to keep projects on track.
4. Team Management:
- Work with Managing Director, Engineering Manager, and QA Lead to manage cross-functional teams involved in software development projects. This includes POs, BAs, SMs, Developers, Testers, and other stakeholders. Help ensure that team members have clear roles and responsibilities, and the software development cycle is working effectively towards project goals.
5. Resource Allocation:
- They monitor resource allocation by Team effectively to ensure that projects are adequately staffed and resourced.
6. Risk Management:
- The delivery manager identifies and mitigates risks that may impact project delivery. This includes proactively addressing technical challenges, dependencies, and potential roadblocks to keep projects on track.
7. Quality Assurance:
- They work with the QA Lead to ensure that software products meet quality standards and adhere to project requirements. This involves implementing quality assurance processes, test plans, and reviewing testing activities to identify and address defects.
8. Continuous Improvement:
- They drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance project delivery processes and outcomes. This includes analyzing project performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing best practices and lessons learned from previous projects.
9. Adaptation to Change:
- In a dynamic environment, the delivery manager must adapt to changes in project requirements, priorities, or external factors that may impact project delivery. They remain flexible and agile in their approach to address evolving needs and ensure successful project outcomes.
Qualifications
- Must possess a bachelor's degree in engineering, Computer Science, Systems, Business, or related scientific/technical discipline (6 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for education).
- 7 plus years of project management experience (related experience leading and managing IT projects, specializing in IT infrastructure and operations, to include service delivery, IT infrastructure systems, and solution development).
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent
- Ability to manage document library in Confluence or similar
- Demonstrated success applying the principles and practices of project management.
- Ability to identify problems that will impact project success and delegate the right resources to define, recommend and implement corrective courses of action.
- Proficiency in timely and effective oral and written communication with both technical and non-technical user.
- Demonstrated experience with document editing tools such as MS Office software, screen capture software, graphics packages, MS Project, VISIO, etc.
- Ability to mentor less experienced team members.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of Atlassian, DevOps or similar tools
