Role Purpose
The jobholder is responsible for a regional team in charge of the restructuring and recovering of problem loans and workouts to mid-market & large companies. To minimize losses, maximize recoveries, optimize income opportunities and protect the bank from reputational risk when dealing with problem and default exposures
Principal Accountabilities and Responsibilities
· Ensure the formulation and constant update of the strategy being implemented by SCU teams.
· To maintain HSBC internal control standards, including timely implementation of internal and external audit points, adherence to the control environment, together with any issues raised by external regulators. To be responsible for the SCU DIM and ensure compliance with the Global SCU Operating Guidelines.
· Perform correct assessment of Impairments/ECL’s (Local and IFRS9) as per FIM and local regulation (stage 3 LICs&ECL).
· Ensure that “active management” cases are managed and resolved on a timely basis, always with fair customer outcomes in mind.
· Active participation in WWM forums and proactive and prompt involvement in deteriorating credits. Proper use of early warnings and Risk Identification tools. Early involvement, speed of negotiation and execution.
· To work with and instruct external professional advisors, including Law Firms in charge of “legal/litigation” cases.
· Plan, implement and monitor the team’s objectives in keeping with Group standards and encouraging an attitude, which respects both the letter and the spirit of the law, and to ensure that conduct outcomes are monitored and in line with Group standards.
· To maintain and manage resources and costs in line with operating plans and economic backdrop
Requirements
· Preferably, more than ten years or more experience in dealing with large Corporations, and experience in handling customers in financial difficulty.
· Ability to discuss and negotiate with Senior Executives within HSBC and with Senior Management of large corporates, together with other creditors in large/complex cases.
· Deep understanding of product and services locally and globally, risk and financial analysis, strong negotiation skills, communication skills, written and spoken English, leadership and delegation skills.
· Working knowledge of legal documentation and recovery procedures available
